I am always delighted when someone reaches out with curiosity and a desire to deepen their understanding of themselves.
I believe we go from healing to healing in this life—or at least, we can. At any given moment, we have the opportunity to open ourselves to the process of studying our inner world, learning, growing, and finding new layers of healing. But it is a choice, and not everyone chooses it.
The more clearly we see our own behaviors, patterns, vulnerabilities, and insecurities, the more clearly we tend to see others, too. As we grow in grace toward ourselves, we become more capable of extending it to the people in our lives. It’s a humbling, humanizing process.
It’s also not easy. There have been times in my own life when the work has felt painfully slow. When it makes sense or feels supportive, I share pieces of my own journey—past and present—with clients. It matters to me that I show up in this work for myself, too. We’re in it together.
There isn’t a single human emotion that isn’t better understood, resolved, or softened in the presence of a loving, attentive other. We are relational beings. Just as most of our wounds happened in relationship, I believe the most meaningful healing also happens in relationship—with people who help us feel safe, seen, and supported.
And here’s the other truth: this work is never “finished.” Life continues to offer new situations that stir up old wounds. Just this past week, I found myself facing new layers while working on finances—an area I’ve worked on many times before! That’s the nature of personal growth.
Some of my favorite tools for deeper self-exploration include Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Hakomi. These modalities help us meet ourselves with compassion and curiosity rather than judgment or shame.
If you’re curious about your own next layer of growth, I’d love to talk. Book a call today.
