Trauma Recovery

Trauma can leave behind an imprint that profoundly shapes the lives of everyone it touches. In trauma recovery, we gradually work to rebuild the security and trust that was broken with ourselves and others.

For some, it's sudden and intense. For others, it's gradual and almost unnoticed.

You've experienced something extremely difficult that has impacted the way you now move through life. You know the trauma is there, but you don't know how to live with it -- or even thrive in life again.

Trauma looks different for everyone, but that doesn't mean healing isn't possible. It just takes time, patience, and someone to help you navigate through it.

Who is Trauma Recovery for?

You constantly feel in a state of fight-or-flight.

Your fight, flight, freeze responses are constantly engaged. You never feel in a state of rest.

You feel ashamed or burdened by your past.

There’s a weight that you’ve been carrying for far too long and you feel trapped by it. No matter what you try, you can’t seem to move on.

You’re hurting and you can’t understand why.

Life doesn’t look like you had expected it. You feel depressed, anxious, or lost. You want to find happiness, but you don’t know where to start.

Understood and nurtured

Working with Jen is a real gift! Her gentle probing and perceptive insights make me feel both acknowledged and celebrated. I appreciate her creative approaches to engage me. With each session, I come away feeling understood and nurtured. Jen is a sensitive and compassionate practitioner and she has my highest recommendation.

How We’ll Work Together

Healing and growth is a journey, not a destination.

And I’m here to help you on that journey.

1

Share

You’ll have the opportunity to share your story with me and tell me about your goals and desired outcome.

2

Identify

We’ll clearly identify the areas of your life where things feel challenging, the history behind it, and why it’s coming up for you in this moment.

3

Deepen

Using modalities that resonate best with you, we’ll begin the work of going deeper to process the things that need attention.

4

Grow

You’ll walk away with a greater sense of self-awareness so that you can continue to process and grow in your journey toward wholeness.

  • Are there contraindications for breathwork?
There are many different breathwork approaches that can help you achieve the goals you’re working toward and it is important to note that Breathwork has been deemed safe by the scientific and medical community as long as you are fit to practice. Below are the primary contraindications that let us know we need to make some adjustments in order for you to do this work safely: Cardiovascular related health issues Low or high blood pressure Hypertension If anyone is pregnant If you have asthma History of epilepsy or seizures If you just got out of a recent surgery On any heavy duty medications Or have any diagnosed mental health issues? (i.e. schizophrenia, bi polar, etc.) Having a contraindication doesn't mean you can't do breathwork! In fact, I have low blood pressure so I'm on that list! What it means is that when I do breathwork, I have to do it differently. I don't breathe through my mouth. I breathe through my nose to lower the intensity. And it still works, I still get the benefit. I strongly advise you to consult with your healthcare providers and inform me of any health concerns before participating in a breathwork session. In all cases, we will collaborate to find the breathwork style that is both beneficial and healing for you!
  • How do I prepare for a breathwork session?
For an effective breathwork session, whether in person with us in Tucson, AZ or virtually, create a quiet and comfortable environment in a room away from distractions, wear loose and warm clothing, and keep a blanket handy. Prioritize an empty stomach or light meal to avoid discomfort, and ensure you're well-hydrated. Approach the session with an open mind, knowing that practice will enhance your technique, and remember, I'm here to guide and support you throughout the experience.
  • How do I know if we’re a good fit?
I offer a 15 minute complimentary introductory call over Zoom or phone. This helps us get to know each other to make sure you feel comfortable with me and the processes that I use in my practice. You can email, call or text me if you'd like to set this up. Jen Meller j@jmeller.com 503-890-9435
